What you will learn
1. Makharij Al-Huruf (points of articulation)
Every Arabic letter comes from a specific place in the mouth, throat, or lips. Getting this right is the foundation of Tajweed. You will learn to distinguish letters that sound similar in English, like the two "H" sounds (? vs ?) or the four "D" family letters (?, ?, ?, ?).
2. Sifat Al-Huruf (attributes of letters)
Beyond location, each letter has attributes — heaviness, softness, whistling, and more. These attributes determine the correct sound.
3. Rules of Noon Sakinah and Tanween
Four core rules: Izhar, Idgham, Iqlab, Ikhfa. These control how the letter Noon is pronounced when followed by other letters.
4. Rules of Madd (elongation)
Knowing when to elongate a vowel — for 2, 4, 6 counts — is crucial to correct recitation.
5. Rules of stopping (Waqf) and starting (Ibtida)
Where you pause changes the meaning. This rule is often overlooked but essential.
